What Are Price Guns and How Do They Work?
A price gun (also called a pricing gun or label gun) is a handheld tool that prints and applies self-adhesive price labels to products in a single action. You load a roll of compatible labels, set the price or code using the numbered character wheels, squeeze the trigger, and the gun prints, advances, and applies the label in one motion.
They’re essential in retail, wholesale, food service, and logistics - anywhere stock needs fast, consistent labelling without the cost or complexity of electronic alternatives.
Types of Price Guns
Single-Line Price Guns
Single-line models print one row of digits - ideal for straightforward price marking on retail products. Compact, lightweight, and easy to use, these are the go-to choice for small shops, market traders, and anyone who needs a no-fuss labelling solution. Most single-line guns in our range use 6 or 8 character bands, with popular options from Motex, Tiger, Puma, and Lynx Lite starting from around £25.
Two-Line Price Guns
Two-line models print two rows simultaneously - perfect for showing a price on one line and a product code, date, weight, or batch reference on the second. They’re widely used in supermarkets, delis, warehouses, and anywhere that needs more information on the label. Browse our two-line options, including the Motex 2616, Tiger PGL-S16, and Puma PJ16.
Date Coding Guns
Date coders are specifically designed to print use-by dates, best-before dates, and batch codes - essential for food businesses and manufacturers. Models like the Motex 2612 Date Coder, Tiger PGL-DC10, and Lynx C-10D are built for this purpose.
Specialist & Alphanumeric Price Guns
Alphanumeric models can print a combination of letters and numbers, making them ideal for batch coding, stock references, and apparel labelling. See our full specialist and alphanumeric price guns range for options from Lynx, Tiger, and Motex.

Price Gun Labels & Ink Rollers
Every price gun requires specific label rolls to function correctly - label width, length, core size, and adhesive type all need to match your gun model. At Price Gun Land, our price gun labels are organised by compatible gun, so you’ll always order the right fit. We also stock custom printed labels for branded or pre-printed requirements, and pre-printed labels for common retail use cases.
When print quality starts to fade, you’ll need a replacement ink roller - we carry compatible rollers for all the gun models we sell.
Not sure which labels or ink roller fits your gun? Use our price gun compatibility guide to find the right match, or call us on 01482 485009.
